Carissima Mathen is Associate Professor of Law at the University of New Brunswick. She teaches Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, and U.S. Constitutional Law. From 1994-2001, she was Counsel and, later, Director of Litigation for the Women's Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF) undertaking equality rights litigation before the Supreme Court of Canada and other courts. Her scholarly work has appeared in numerous law reviews and other publications. A Harrison McCain Foundation Young Scholar, she has visited at the University of Aberdeen and the University of Toronto; and been an invited speaker at conferences all over the world. Carissima holds a B.A. from McGill University, LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School, and LL.M. from Columbia University. She is a member of the Bar of Ontario.
