Doris Buss returned to Canada in 2003, after several years teaching at Keele University in the United Kingdom,
to work in the Law Department, Carleton University. Her teaching and research areas include women’s international
human rights, violence against women, global social movements and feminist theory, and she is the author (with Didi Herman)
of Globalizing Family Values: The International Politics of the Christian Right, and editor (with Ambreena Manji)
of International Law: Modern Feminist Perspectives. Prior to teaching, Doris practiced law in Alberta and Nova Scotia.
Born and raised in Calgary, she now calls western Quebec home. Doris has served on the board of LEAF since June 2007.
She is the immediate past Chair of the Law Program Committee and the current Chair of the Board of Directors.
