The Queen v. Mason (1994)

A 16 year-old girl was sexually assaulted by her step-father, but he was acquitted because the Court said the girl's submissive reaction and lack of resistance was consistent with consent. The Supreme Court of Canada overturned the acquittal stating the court was wrong in holding that a victim of sexual assault is required to offer some minimal word or gesture of objection and that lack of resistance must be equated with consent.
It was an important decision, clarifying the definition of consent in criminal law.
