LEAF Edmonton and the Centre for Constitutional Studies invite you an evening to remember the historic Supreme Court of Canada decision on reproductive rights (R. v. Morgentaler<\/i>) and the establishing of the Morgentaler Clinic in Edmonton. It was following that Supreme Court of Canada decision that Edmonton could at last provide safe abortion services to women. The panel will discuss the struggles facing women prior to this time, the significance of the Supreme Court of Canada decision, the hurdles women faced in bringing the clinic to Edmonton, and the current climate for reproductive freedoms. Panelists will include: Patricia Paradis, Marie Gordon, Deb McElrath, Ellen Ticoll and Deb Miller. The evening will be moderated by LEAF Edmonton\u2019s chair, Danielle Paradis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Centre for Constitutional Studies is a hub for constitutional research and public education in Canada.  It connects leading Canadian and international scholars, contributes to constitutional debate, and creates resources that educate the public about the Constitution.  The Centre is a non-profit organization that receives its primary financial support from the Alberta Law Foundation. It also receives support from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law.<\/p>\n
