Give individuals who have had their intimate images shared without consent a fast-track option to getting them taken down, says the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LEAF’s submission comes as the Province of Nova Scotia reviews its Intimate Images and Cyber-protection Act<\/em>. The Act provides supports for people targeted by technology-facilitated violence (TFV), digital abuse, and the non-consensual distribution of intimate images (NCDII).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This submission relied and built on previous recommendations made in LEAF\u2019s Deplatforming Misogyny report<\/a>, the Uniform Non-Consensual Disclosure of Intimate Images Act<\/a>, and Alexa Dodge\u2019s Deleting Digital Harm: A Review of Nova Scotia\u2019s CyberScan Unit report<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LEAF\u2019s recommendations focused on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Providing more expedient and direct supports to those experiencing technology-facilitated violence and the non-consensual disclosure of intimate images (NCDII);<\/li>
  2. Expanding the scope of the definition of intimate images and reconsidering the parameters of \u201cpublic interest\u201d; and<\/li>
  3. Broadening the scope of research and educational materials to ensure that they are survivor-centric and to cover the systemic and social context that results in digital abuse and NCDII.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
