Public Legal Education Manager (30-month contract)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ROLE OVERVIEW<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

LEAF is hiring a Public Legal Education (PLE) Manager to oversee LEAF\u2019s PLE program and provide important support to LEAF\u2019s broader PLE work. This is a 30-month contract with an anticipated start date of October 7, 2024, and concluding on March 31, 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reporting to the Executive Director and General Counsel, the PLE Manager will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and delivery of LEAF\u2019s public legal education program. This will include building capacity among LEAF\u2019s branches to deliver workshops and training across the country and designing new public legal education materials. It will also involve designing and implementing PLE materials for LEAF\u2019s upcoming Care Economy project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing public legal education materials for youth, experience working with volunteers, and an understanding of the gendered nature of care work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a hybrid position requiring the successful candidate to work out of LEAF\u2019s office in downtown Toronto two days a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WHO WE ARE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

LEAF is a national non-profit, charitable organization which uses law to advance gender equality in Canada. Our national office is located in downtown Toronto, or Tkar\u00f3n:to, which is a Mohawk word that means \u201cthe place in the water where trees are standing.\u201d We have volunteer branches in Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Windsor, Kitchener-Waterloo, Hamilton, Toronto, Kingston, Ottawa, Montreal, and Halifax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We intervene in legal cases throughout Canada to advance equality in Canada \u2013 helping to prevent violence, eliminate discrimination in the workplace, provide better maternity benefits, ensure a right to pay equity, and allow access to reproductive freedoms. We push for progressive law reform on issues central to gender equality, including sexual violence, online hate, technology-facilitated gender-based violence, and basic income. We use education to amplify our legal victories and improve people\u2019s understanding of their rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WHO YOU ARE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You are passionate about contemporary feminist issues and public legal education. You have experience delivering public education, ideally on legal issues, and working with high school and post-secondary-aged youth. You are energized by working as part of a team and in collaboration with volunteers from across Canada committed to gender equity. You bring an intersectional feminist lens to your work \u2013 including your analysis, collaborations, and communication style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Public Legal Education (PLE) Manager will design, evaluate, and participate in facilitating LEAF\u2019s PLE programs, build capacity in LEAF\u2019s member branches to deliver PLE across the country, and provide important support to LEAF\u2019s broader PLE work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
