{"id":24256,"date":"2024-10-29T09:14:53","date_gmt":"2024-10-29T13:14:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.leaf.ca\/?post_type=news&#038;p=24256"},"modified":"2024-10-29T09:14:56","modified_gmt":"2024-10-29T13:14:56","slug":"call-for-amendments-to-the-employment-insurance-act-to-address-gender-based-discrimination","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.leaf.ca\/fr\/news\/call-for-amendments-to-the-employment-insurance-act-to-address-gender-based-discrimination\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Amendments to the Employment Insurance Act to Address Gender-based Discrimination\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In advance of the federal government\u2019s Fall Economic Statement, LEAF is calling on the government to address gender-based discrimination in the Employment Insurance system.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, people who receive parental and maternity benefits \u2013 overwhelmingly women \u2013 who then lose their jobs during or soon after parental leave are denied EI regular benefits.
