In January 1990, LEAF provided the Legislative Committee of Parliament with a submission on Bill C-43, An Act Respecting Abortion<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LEAF argued that Bill C-43 was inconsistent with women’s rights under ss. 7, 15, and 28 of the Charter<\/em>. Restricting access to abortion reinforced existing inequality. The bill failed to recognize the women’s capacity to make decisions about their own reproductive destinies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
