{"id":22262,"date":"2022-01-28T16:25:14","date_gmt":"2022-01-28T21:25:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.leaf.ca\/?post_type=submission&#038;p=22262"},"modified":"2022-01-31T16:23:40","modified_gmt":"2022-01-31T21:23:40","slug":"submission-on-nova-scotias-review-of-the-intimate-images-and-cyber-protection-act","status":"publish","type":"submission","link":"https:\/\/www.leaf.ca\/fr\/submission\/submission-on-nova-scotias-review-of-the-intimate-images-and-cyber-protection-act\/","title":{"rendered":"Submission on Nova Scotia&rsquo;s review of the Intimate Images and Cyber-protection Act"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In January 2022, LEAF provided a submission to the Province of Nova Scotia on its review of the <em>Intimate Images and Cyber-protection Act<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The submission provided recommendations on changes to the Act and its regulations, as well as recommendations on aspects of CyberScan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This submission relied and built on previous recommendations made in LEAF\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaf.ca\/publication\/deplatforming-misogyny\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Deplatforming Misogyny report<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ulcc-chlc.ca\/ULCC\/media\/EN-Annual-Meeting-2020\/Report-of-the-Working-Group-and-Draft-Uniform-Act-2020.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Uniform Non-Consensual Disclosure of Intimate Images Act<\/a>, and Alexa Dodge\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vawlearningnetwork.ca\/docs\/CyberScan-Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Deleting Digital Harm: A Review of Nova Scotia\u2019s CyberScan Unit report<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LEAF&rsquo;s recommendations focused on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Providing more expedient and direct supports to those experiencing technology-facilitated violence and the non-consensual disclosure of intimate images (NCDII);<\/li><li>Expanding the scope of the definition of intimate images and reconsidering the parameters of \u201cpublic interest\u201d; and<\/li><li>Broadening the scope of research and educational materials to ensure that they are survivor-centric and to cover the systemic and social context that results in digital abuse and NCDII.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>LEAF&rsquo;s submission was written by Suzie Dunn and Rosel Kim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Read and download the submission <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaf.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/NS-IICP-Act-Submission_LEAF.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaf.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/NS-IICP-Act-Submission_LEAF.pdf\" class=\"pdfemb-viewer\" style=\"\" data-width=\"max\" data-height=\"max\" data-toolbar=\"bottom\" data-toolbar-fixed=\"off\">NS-IICP-Act-Submission_LEAF<\/a>\n<p class=\"wp-block-pdfemb-pdf-embedder-viewer\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"categories":[],"tags":[434,663,457,506],"class_list":["post-22262","submission","type-submission","status-publish","hentry","tag-gender-based-violence","tag-intimate-images","tag-online-hate","tag-technology-facilitated-violence"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.1.1 -
