The implementation of Saskatchewan’s \u201cUse of Preferred First Name and Pronouns by Students<\/em>\u201d policy, which only permits school personnel to refer to a trans, non-binary, or gender-diverse student under the age of 16 by their proper name and pronouns if their parent consents, was put on hold after an injunction was granted by a Saskatchewan court. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In response, the Province introduced Bill 137, which proposes to invoke the notwithstanding clause of the Charter<\/em>, overriding Saskatchewan children’s\u00a0Charter-protected\u00a0<\/em>rights to freedom of expression, security of the person, and equality.
