Location: Hybrid (2 days/week in office – Toronto, ON)/open to fully remote work for the right candidate

Type: Full-time, Contract (12 months)

Remuneration: $58,000 plus benefits

Apply by: July 13, 2025 at 11:59pm ET

ROLE OVERVIEW

LEAF is hiring a Communications Assistant to support LEAF’s communications work. This is a one-year contract with an anticipated start date of September 2, 2025.

We envision this role as a hybrid position requiring the successful candidate to work out of LEAF’s office in downtown Toronto at least two days a week. That said, we are open to fully remote work for the right candidate.

LEAF recognizes that structural barriers shape experiences, qualifications, and a sense of capacity. We encourage people to apply even if you feel that the position may be a stretch. LEAF is committed to supporting the Communications Assistant through orientation, professional development opportunities, and on-going mentoring.

WHO WE ARE

LEAF is a national non-profit, charitable organization which uses law to advance gender equality in Canada. Our national office is located in downtown Toronto, or Tkarón:to, which is a Mohawk word that means “the place in the water where trees are standing.” We have volunteer branches in Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Windsor, Kitchener-Waterloo, Hamilton, London, Toronto, Kingston, Ottawa, Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Halifax.

We intervene in legal cases throughout Canada to advance equality in Canada – helping to prevent violence, eliminate discrimination in the workplace, provide better maternity and parental benefits, ensure a right to pay equity, and expand access to reproductive freedoms. We push for progressive law reform on issues central to gender equality, including sexual violence, online hate, technology-facilitated gender-based violence, and pay equity. We use education to amplify our legal victories and improve people’s understanding of their rights.
