Today, in collaboration with West Coast LEAF and the Canadian Association of Elizabeth Fry Societies, and in partnership with Wisdom2Action, the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF) released the Trans Feminine Inclusion in Feminist Workplaces report.
Based on the lived experiences of trans women working in feminist organizations across Canada, the report outlines systemic barriers to trans feminine individuals’ employment and leadership in the feminist sector and provides practical advice to feminist organizations – leadership, co-workers, and funders – on how to more meaningfully support trans feminine staff.
The report comes at a time when trans people’s access to spaces where they should feel safe to show up authentically, from classrooms to doctor’s offices to sports fields, is increasingly being denied. It serves as a call to action for the feminist sector to rise up against transmisogyny by ensuring our workplaces are as safe and inclusive for trans women as we can make them.
Alongside the report is an accompanying Calls to Action and Self-Guided Audit Tool that organizations can use as a roadmap and to mark their progress. Used together, these resources can guide organizations towards building truly feminist spaces where trans women feel safe and can make meaningful contributions.
Report authors Jammy Lo and Mary Vaccaro will be diving into the report findings at an upcoming webinar, Building Trans Feminine Inclusive Workplaces, on January 15, 2026 from 12:30 – 2 PM ET. Learn more and register here.
